Monday was the first day of fall. It also was the return of the annual, friendly competition between neighbors Patti Stahl, left, and Barbara Pulaski. The two friends from the 1800 block of South Second Street race to show who has autumn fever first. The winner? Everyone who passes their homes since they are treated to jewel-toned flowers, robust pumpkins and rust-colored leaves.
