While under seize by four teenage girls, a 15-year-old dropped a glass beverage bottle which one of the offenders picked up and allegedly struck her in the face. The victim was walking home from school at about 4 p.m. Jan. 22 on the 7000 block of Buist Avenue when the group walked up and started assaulting her, a report said.

During the ambush, the girls took the teen’s Metro cellphone valued at about $200 and her brown Hollister bookbag.

The victim was able to escape before the trio went after her shoes next, a report said.

A man scorned

Upset over his girlfriend dumping him, a man paid the woman a visit and threatened to kill her in front of her children.

The 24-year-old offender fled the house on foot after Saturday’s incident around 9:40 p.m., and police were still trying to locate him at press time, a report said.

When the perpetrator arrived at the 28-year-old’s dwelling on the 1500 block of South Lindenwood Street, a verbal spat broke out between the former couple over their relationship. The accused then pulled a black handgun and told his ex he would blow her away in front of her kids, a report said.

The victim nor her offspring were harmed in the hostile confrontation.

Victim loses consciousness

A Darby man paid his ex-flame a visit Monday and allegedly beat up the 18-year-old so badly she passed out for several hours before awakening inside her dwelling on the 2200 block of South 67th Street.

Medics took the victim to Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital after the 6:30 p.m. assault Monday, a report said.

The teen was in stable condition with cuts to her face and head and a broken nose.

The 30-year-old perpetrator had not been arrested at press time and the incident was still under investigation. Police do not know what prompted the violence.

Out of harm’s way

When a 12-year-old boy ignored the request of two males in a car to come over to them, one of the offenders produced a shotgun, sending the lad running.

The incident happened at about 6 p.m. Monday on the 6700 block of Paschall Avenue as the child was walking home from an after-school program, a report said.

The victim did not get a good enough view of the pair to provide police with descriptions.

The male perpetrator seated in the passenger seat of a red, new model, 2008 Infinity with tinted windows said, "Come here, I want to show you something," a report said.

When the 12-year-old refused, that male alledgedly pointed a shotgun at him, at which time the kid took off running with the vehicle in pursuit on Paschall toward 65th Street. Perhaps tired of the resistance, the car took off east on Paschall and the victim ran home to call police.

The offenders were described as black males wearing all dark clothing; one was heavy set with a thick beard; the other was light skinned.

Just the money

Instructing a 24-year-old not to scream and just surrender her money, two males mugged a female at 56th Street and Kingsessing Avenue.

The victim was walking north on 56th when the pair approached her from behind. One of the males aimed a handgun at her and issued the order, while the other rummaged through her coat and swiped $40 and two credit cards, a report said.

With the stolen items, the males fled on foot south on 56th towards Kingsessing, then east on Kingsessing.

The assailants were described as black males, ages 22 to 25, 160 to 170 pounds, approximately 6 foot and wearing dark hoodies.

Going to trial

A man accused of drowning his gay lover’s dog and robbing his Upper Darby apartment had his day in court Monday.

At the preliminary hearing, 21-year-old John Newman from 70th and Wheeler streets was ordered to stand trial on all charges stemming from the Nov. 1 incident: animal cruelty, burglary, theft and related offenses, according to court documents.

When the 25-year-old victim came home after work that November day, he found his drowned Pomeranian puppy in a frying pan in the middle of the living room floor with spices and seasonings placed around it, police said.

According to court documents, Newman burglarized the victim’s dwelling two times prior to the canine incident, stealing two laptops and other items. Newman remains in prison on $50,000 bail, according to court records.

Running cars take off

Now that Old Man Winter has arrived, police are urging residents not to leave running cars unattended in an attempt to warm them up before setting off.

People who do so stand a good chance of having their wheels stolen, even if the vehicle is parked right outside the home. According to police statistics, auto thefts climb during colder temperatures. For those who insist on a toasty interior and hot engine ready to go, police encourage them to stay with their idling cars.
