A 24-year-old was snoozing on the hood of his girlfriend’s car at 2 a.m. outside Club Onyx, 2908 S. Columbus Blvd., when a man used the opportunity to search his pockets.
When his sister realized what was occurring, she yelled at the man who was trying to rob her sibling, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The screaming awoke her brother and as he sat up, the offender pulled a gun from his waistband, fired a shot that struck the man’s neck and exited near his shoulder blade.
The man, who fled in a white Chrysler 300 with 24-inch rims and empty-handed, was described as black with a dark complexion, age 23 to 25, 6 foot, 250 pounds. Meanwhile the 24-year-old was driven to Columbus Boulevard and Oregon Avenue where police were called, Tolliver said. The man was transported to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in stable condition.
