Off to the polls

The countdown begins for Pennsylvania’s general election. Nov. 2 is the big day when candidates compete for a place as Pennsylvania’s governor and lieutenant governor as well as seats in Congress and the General Assembly.

For the House of Representatives 175th District, Queen Village Republican Louis Schwartz faces off against Democrat state Rep. Michael O’Brien. Democrat state Rep. Babette Josephs is running unopposed in the 182nd District, and standing in for the 184th District will be Democrat state Rep. William F. Keller against Republican Stephen J. Pico of Lower Moyamensing. Candidates for the 185th District will be Democrat state Rep. Robert Donatucci and Republican Michael Bruno of West Passyunk, while the 186th District will be represented by Democrat state Rep. Kenyatta Johnson of Point Breeze and South of South Republican Keith Todd.

Democrat state Sen. Anthony H. Williams and Republican Rhashea Harmon vie for the 8th District seat. U.S. House of Representatives’ 1st and 2nd district candidates are Democrat U.S. Rep. Bob Brady, and Democrat U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah against Republican Rick Hellberg, respectively.

Other races include Republican Tom Corbett and Democrat Dan Onorato competing for governor, Republican Jim Cawley versus Democrat Scott Conklin for lieutenant governor and Democrat Joe Sestak facing off against Republican Pat Toomey for U.S. Senate.
