POINT BREEZE WINTER BASKETBALL LEAGUE
Point Breeze Civic Association is holding registrations for its winter basketball league beginning Nov. 29. at Edwin H. Vare School,c 2100 S. 24th St. Coed competition for ages 10 to 12 is slated for Mondays and boys’ competition for ages 13 to 15 will be Wednesdays. TURKEY BOWL
On Thanksgiving, Neumann-Goretti, 1736 S. 10th St., defeated Southern, 2101 S. Broad St., 6-0, in the 76th Turkey Bowl at the South Philadelphia super site, 10th and Bigler streets. The Saints, who finished 4-6, used an 80-yard touchdown pass from senior Mark Stinsman to classmate Chad McPherson to secure their 54th win in the series. Senior fullback Justin Rey ran for 59 yards, and sophomore defensive end Shariff Custis joined junior defensive backs Christian DeFrancesco and Shane Thomas in sharing interceptions.
For the 3-8 Rams, sophomore running back Wayne Brunson ran for 30 yards, senior fullback Henry Anhalt picked up eight and made an 11-yard catch and senior cornerback Chris Coffie intercepted two balls.
