The 17th District has seen a rise in burglaries in its Police Service Area 3, which spans Dickinson to Moore streets and Broad to 24th streets, 17th District Capt. Anthony Washington said.
Typically, entry is gained through the rear of the property and many of the burglaries occur near corners or vacant lots, Washington said. Police suspect the offenders may be nearby residents as the rear access sometimes includes gated or locked alleyways.
Repeated incidents have occurred on the 1700 block of Watkins Street; 1800 block of Wilder Street; 1900 block of Pierce Street; 2000 block of Morris Street; 2000 block of Dickinson Street; 2300 block of Fernon Street; and the 1700 to 2400 blocks of Tasker Street.
