After making a pit stop on the way home from a gentleman’s club, a man was chased down and shot in the head.

A 36- and 38-year-old man left Club Onyx, 2908 S. Columbus Boulevard, early March 2 and were headed north in a white Mercedes-Benz when the driver had to pee, Detective Danielle Tolliver of South Detective Division said. The younger male pulled over three blocks from the club near Shunk Street to urinate at about 2:24 a.m. when an unknown man approached and pointed a semi-auto handgun at him. The man started to scream as the offender chased him south on Columbus. Near Oregon Avenue the man tripped, a gunshot sounded and the perpetrator entered a burgundy square-style Toyota Camry sedan before fleeing north on Columbus.

Several witnesses including the injured man’s passenger who fled the scene earlier, helped the victim, who suffered one shot to his head, before police arrived and transported him to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in critical condition, Tolliver said. The motive is unknown.
